Mahiyanganaya Police say that 10 persons were killed when a van and a bus collided with a van in front of the Mahiyanganaya Maha Vidyalaya on the Badulla road yesterday (17th).
A van that had collided with a private bus on the Diyatalawa-Trincomalee road has been taken to the bus, police say. Twelve people have been traveling in the van at the time of the accident while the other two injured are also in serious condition, police said.
Seven elderly people and three children died in the accident. The body of the deceased has been placed at the Mahiyangana Hospital.
Police suspect that the accident had occurred when the driver of the van was sleeping at the correct lane on the road.
